Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Quortup collects, why we collect it, who processes it, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Quortup ("Quortup", "we", "us") is an independent quantum computing education and research platform founded and operated by Anand Krishna P V in India. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@quortup.com.
2. Information we collect
| Category | What it includes | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Name, email address, and profile photo when you sign in with Google, or email and password when you register with email. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us. | To create your account, keep you signed in, and save your work. |
| Content you create | Quantum circuits, notebooks, projects, benchmark results, and feedback you choose to save or publish. | To store your work and, if you publish it, to show it in the public gallery. |
| AI assistant prompts | Messages you send to the Quortup AI assistant. | To generate circuit suggestions and answers. See Section 4. |
| Academic grant details | Full name, institution name, and email address entered in the student grant form. | To issue the grant and send your confirmation email. |
| Feedback | Ratings and written answers you submit in the feedback form. | To improve the platform. |
| Basic usage counts | Simple usage counters linked to your account, such as the number of AI requests. | To apply fair use limits and keep the service running. |
Student ID card photos
If you attach a photo of your student ID card in the grant form, the image is shown as a preview inside your own browser only. It is not uploaded to or stored on Quortup servers.
IBM Quantum API tokens
If you choose to run a circuit on IBM Quantum hardware, you paste your own IBM Quantum token. The token is kept only in memory for your current browser session and is passed through our backend to IBM solely to submit and check that job. We do not save it to a database. You can revoke the token at any time from your IBM Quantum account.
Information stored in your browser
Quortup saves some preferences in your browser's local storage, such as chat history, selected AI model, simulation shot count, notification settings, and grant status. This data stays on your device. You can remove it by clearing your browser's site data for quortup.com.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use advertising trackers or third party analytics scripts on quortup.com.
- We do not use your circuits, notebooks, or prompts to train our own AI models.
4. Service providers that process data for us
We rely on the following providers to run Quortup. Each processes data only as needed to provide its service.
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) | Sign in, account management, and storage of saved circuits, notebooks, projects, and feedback. |
| Google Gemini API | Generating responses from the AI assistant. Your prompt text is sent to Google for processing. |
| Netlify | Website hosting and serverless functions. |
| Render | Backend server for simulation and IBM Quantum job submission. |
| Resend | Sending welcome and grant confirmation emails. |
| IBM Quantum | Running circuits on physical quantum hardware, only when you choose to and supply your own token. |
| YouTube | Embedded tutorial videos. YouTube may set its own cookies when you play a video. |
Some of these providers process data on servers located outside India.
5. How long we keep information
We keep your account and saved content for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account record and saved content within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records to comply with law.
6. Your choices and rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you can withdraw consent for optional processing, by emailing support@quortup.com from the email address linked to your account. We aim to respond within 30 days. These rights are provided in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and we extend them to all users regardless of location.
7. Security
Quortup is served only over HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Firebase, and stored data is protected by Firestore security rules that limit access to your own records. No online service can guarantee complete security, so please avoid entering confidential or proprietary information you are not comfortable processing with the providers listed above.
8. Children
Quortup is intended for users aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, please use Quortup with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or teacher. If you believe a child has given us personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Quortup evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website.
